19 August 2007

The 5th of August I left with my two friends Mus and Jur to Budapest, mostly for the Sziget festival but secretly also for a little city-trip. I had an ambivalent experience with Budapest, at first I didn't like it all: the streets were too bombastic, the pavements too empty and the architecture somewhat uniform (Of course, I wasn't there long enough to really judge blablabla). One night, we did actually found a very nice arty-alternative looking bar, which was truly a cool spot (also 'cause I was meeting my other good friend Ifeta there). Later, after the festival, I found more of these "spots" such as the more backward neighborhoods, modern styled parks and the uberchill bathhouse. In the end, Budapest came to be a city unlike the other big ones which I tend to love immediately; no it seems more a city that one would have to grow into by finding and connecting these cool spots in between the somewhat oppressive housing. Unfortunately I did not have enough time for that but next time I know what to look for. Now, instead of the city memories, I'll have to do with the golden memory of me and my two friends rambling in the long and wide streets.
